Varsity Baseball · Baseball Recap

The 2020 season for the Miners was a roller coaster ride to say the least, there were lots of highs and lows but great learning experiences along the way for the team. The team’s record was 4-13 overall and 4-3 in region play. With 12 total players the roster consisted of Senior, Bradyn Carter;  Juniors, Brynlee Allan, Hunter Garbett, Deegan Hansen, Koy Isaacson, Kayslee Lassen, Holden Petersen, and Cooper Snell, Sophomores; Wrangler Combs, Conner Fox, Kayden Pehrson and Freshman; Kaylyn Jameson. Most of the roster will be returning next year besides our one Senior, Bradyn Carter.

The team had a pretty good start to the season in the Valley tournament, they lost three games but were competing with top teams in the state. They went to the 1A pre-season tournament and didn’t play too well… they had to regroup. They took a tough loss to Wendover in a close 8-6 game then got their first win in a blowout against Dugway 17-3. The Miners kept trading W’s and L’s with two forfeit wins against Telos and Dugway and a few close losses.  Towards the end of the season the Miners got their revenge on Manila and beat them 7-4 after previously losing to them 16-14. The Miners fought, but couldn’t close out the season how they wanted to, losing their remaining three games of the season.

Conner Fox led the team in batting average with .650, runs with 18 and hits with 26. Kayden Pehrson led the team in RBI’s with 13 on the season. Bradyn Carter led the team on the mound with the lowest ERA and most appearances for the Miners. Kayslee Lassen had the least errors on the team with 2 on the season.
